Best Clay Target Semi-Auto Shotguns

If you love busting clays, this one’s for you. We’ve reviewed a ton of semi-auto shotguns over the years, and these are our top picks for Clay Target Shooters in 2025.

We’ve spent years testing and reviewing dozens of shotguns, and this list reflects both tried-and-true performers and fresh new contenders that impressed us in 2025.

There are three categories in our breakdown:

  • Best on a Budget
  • Best Value
  • Best Overall

Let’s jump in.

If you have experience with any of these shotguns, please share your thoughts in the TFL COMMUNITY!

BEST ON A BUDGET

If you’re looking to get into clay target shooting without spending a fortune, there’s one clear winner in this category:

๐Ÿ† Winner: CZ 712 G3 Sporting — MSRP $899

The CZ 712 G3 Sporting was built specifically for sporting clays and punches way above its price point. With an adjustable comb, solid ergonomics, and smooth cycling, it performs. This shotgun won't win any beauty contests, but it’s simple, reliable, and a blast to shoot — all for under a grand.

There aren’t many semi-autos designed for clay shooting in this price range, but the CZ 712 G3 Sporting more than holds its own.

“It was smooth, balanced, and surprisingly refined for a sub-$1,000 clay gun. If you’re looking to start shooting clays on a budget, this one’s worth a hard look.”

BEST VALUE

If you want the most performance for your money, one name continues to stand out in the clay target world — SKB.

๐Ÿ† Winner: SKB RS300 — MSRP $1,279

The SKB RS300 delivers incredible value with solid performance, light recoil, and tons of adjustability. It’s an especially great fit for younger or growing shooters who want a customizable gun without paying premium competition prices.

We also tested the SKB RS400 High Trap Rib,

a version built specifically for trap shooters with a higher rib and parallel comb. MSRP comes in at $1,399, and it performs every bit as well as we hoped.

SKB isn’t known for flashy looks, but when it comes to function and reliability, they get it done.

“These guns just run. They fit well, shoot soft, and feel right. For shooters wanting a high-quality gun at a fair price, SKB nails it.”

BEST OVERALL

Now for the heavy hitters. For the past few years, the Beretta A400 Xcel Multi-Target has been our go-to in the semi-auto clay world. But this year, another contender stepped up to challenge the throne.

๐Ÿ† Winner: Fabarm L4S All Sport RS — MSRP $2,045

๐Ÿฅˆ Runner-Up: Beretta A400 Xcel Multi-Target — MSRP $2,249

We tested the Fabarm L4S All Sport RS down in Texas with fellow trick shooter Travis Mears, and it absolutely delivered. It’s a beautifully balanced shotgun that cycles smoothly, handles naturally, and feels solid without being too heavy.

The Beretta A400 Xcel Multi-Target is still an elite performer — fast, reliable, and extremely adjustable. The main difference between these two comes down to preference.

The Beretta uses a click-adjustable rib that is super easy to adjust. The Fabarm features a quick-release rib that allows you to pop a pin and completely change your rib. Personally, I prefer keeping my sight picture consistent, but if you like the option to change your rib for different disciplines, both of these can do that for you.

“Both guns are phenomenal. If I had to choose one, I’d lean toward the Fabarm L4S All Sport RS — it just feels that good.”

FINAL THOUGHTS

Here’s the quick rundown:

๐Ÿ† Best on a Budget: CZ 712 G3 Sporting$899
๐Ÿ† Best Value: SKB RS300$1,279
๐Ÿ† Best Overall: Fabarm L4S All Sport RS$2,045

The CZ 712 G3 Sporting is the best entry point for new clay shooters on a budget. The SKB RS300 hits that sweet spot of quality and price. And the Fabarm L4S All Sport RS earns our top spot for its smooth performance, great ergonomics, and premium build quality. At the end of the day, all three deliver excellent experiences for different kinds of shooters. Which one would you pick?
