BLOWN AWAY By This Amazing Destination | Providence Hill
Mar 12, 2025Shooter’s Paradise: Providence Hill
Earlier this year, Rylan and I traveled south to Providence Hill, located just outside Jackson, Mississippi, to experience everything this remarkable destination has to offer. Spread across more than 1,200 acres of rolling hills, wooded cover, and pristine water, Providence Hill is nothing short of extraordinary.
I’ll be honest — Mississippi was not what I expected. The landscape surprised me in the best possible way, and Providence Hill quickly proved that this part of the country holds some truly special ground.
We were invited by owner Wiverson Trecenti to perform a live exhibition shooting show during their New Year’s Eve celebration. Since we were already making the trip, we arrived early to spend an extra day exploring the property. It didn’t take long to realize that even with additional time, there was no way to see it all in a single visit.
Providence Hill isn’t just large in size. It’s intentional in design, thoughtful in execution, and built with shooters in mind.

A True Shooting Destination
Providence Hill offers one of the most diverse collections of shooting sports I’ve encountered at a single facility. While we couldn’t experience everything during our stay, it’s clear that this is a place designed to challenge, inspire, and welcome shooters of all backgrounds.
Some of the standout offerings include:
-
Sporting clays courses
-
FITASC course
-
Covered five-stand
-
Two permanent Helice fields
-
Duck flush
-
Skeet and trap
-
Upland hunting
-
3D archery range
-
Pistol and rifle ranges
-
Fishing and additional outdoor activities
It’s rare to find this level of variety without sacrificing quality, but Providence Hill delivers on both.

The Covered Five-Stand
With Minnesota winters limiting shooting opportunities back home, we wasted no time getting started on the covered five-stand. With the exhibition show coming up, I wanted to shake off some winter rust and get a feel for the targets.
The setup was excellent, and it immediately set the tone for what we would experience throughout the property — thoughtful target presentations and facilities designed to be shot in real-world conditions, not just fair-weather days.
FITASC and Sporting Clays Done Right
One of the things that stood out most about Providence Hill is accessibility. The FITASC course sits close to the pro shop, which may sound like a small detail, but it’s a big advantage compared to some facilities where you feel like you need a map and a golf cart just to get started.
The targets were creative, challenging, and genuinely fun. These were master-class presentations that showed a deep understanding of the game.
Naturally, I assumed Wiverson was a lifelong competitive shooter. I was genuinely surprised to learn that he shot his first clay target in 2019. In just five years, he went from picking up a shotgun for the first time to owning one of the premier shooting destinations in the country. Even more impressive, Providence Hill is set to host the U.S. Open this year.
That kind of growth doesn’t happen by accident.
Southern Upland Hunting at Its Finest
No trip south would be complete without upland hunting, and Providence Hill delivers a top-tier quail experience. Beautiful pine stands, excellent dog work, and fast-moving coveys made for a classic Southern hunt.
Watching Rylan take his first quail was one of those moments I’ll never forget. He made a great shot, and anyone who has experienced a covey rise knows just how quickly everything happens. You have a split second to choose your bird, make your move, and pull the trigger. It’s pure adrenaline and tradition wrapped into one.

The Helice Rings
One feature that truly sets Providence Hill apart is its two permanent Helice fields. Many venues only set up Helice for special events, but here it’s a permanent part of the shooting experience.
To mix things up, we turned it into a friendly competition. Rylan teamed up with Jimmy, the Director of Shooting Sports, while Wiverson and I formed another team. Five birds each. Best score wins.
My favorite part wasn’t the competition itself. It was introducing Rylan to Helice for the first time. He took to it immediately and even managed to beat his old man in the final round. That’s a memory I’ll hold onto for a long time.

Cabins, Dining, and Southern Hospitality
Providence Hill isn’t just about shooting. It’s about the entire experience.
That evening, we checked into one of their brand-new cabins overlooking the lake. Comfortable, well-designed, and perfectly placed within the property, it was the ideal way to wind down after a full day outdoors.
Before turning in for the night, we were treated to a five-star meal prepared by the on-site chef. Providence Hill has truly mastered the art of Southern hospitality, blending comfort, quality, and attention to detail in a way that feels genuine, not forced.

The Exhibition Show & New Year’s Eve Celebration
After warming up at the duck flush the following morning, it was time to prepare for the exhibition show. It hit me that this performance marked my 15th year of doing live shows — 13 years alongside my brother Aaron, and now two years sharing the stage with my son.
That perspective made the moment even more meaningful.
The New Year’s Eve celebration that followed was exceptional. Live music, great food, and an impressive fireworks display made for a memorable night and a perfect way to close out the year.

More Than a Shooting Destination
Wiverson’s vision for Providence Hill goes beyond creating an incredible shooting facility. His goal is to build a place where families can come together and create lasting memories.
“We want to bring in shooters from all over the world,” he shared, “but we also want to create memorable experiences for their families as well.”
Providence Hill delivers on that vision. It’s a place where everyone can enjoy the outdoors together, whether they’re on the course, in the field, or relaxing at the cabin.
After this trip, one thing is certain. We’ll be back.
