NORDIC CLAYS TRAPMASTER
The TrapMaster is a handheld, battery-powered clay thrower from Nordic Clays, a company based in Denmark that was first to market with this kind of tech. They’ve recently expanded to the U.S., and we got our hands on their Starter Pack to see what this unit is all about.
The device itself is simple to use—load one or two clays, lock them in, and press the red button to launch. It comes with a hard case, a clay magazine for easy loading, chargers for every major outlet type, and 200 biodegradable clays. You can control the throwing speed with a dial on the back. At lower settings we were getting 30–40 yards, and at max power we easily saw 70–75 yard throws. Nordic Clays claims it can reach up to 110 yards.
We tested a bunch of scenarios—from basic quartering shots to rabbit rollers to high floaters—and the TrapMaster handled them all with ease. You can even prop it on a table and launch clays solo. Rylan and I ended up doing a few trick shots too, including some over-the-head shots just to see what it could do. It's not just functional—it's fun.
Battery life is solid, giving you up to 300 launches per charge (that’s 600 clays if you’re throwing doubles). It's light, portable, and doesn’t require a trap range or a team to set up. While it doesn’t replace a full-range setup with multiple throwers and presentations, it adds something fresh and exciting to your shooting toolkit.
We did notice a few broken clays when they weren’t inserted quite right, but once we figured out the proper loading technique, that mostly went away. The build quality feels rugged and well-engineered, and the compact size means it can go with you just about anywhere.
So is it for everyone? Maybe not. But for backyard shooters, new shooters, youth teams, or anyone who wants to get more trigger time without hauling a trailer full of machines, the TrapMaster is a game-changer.
We had an absolute blast with it—and we’ll definitely be using it more.
