ZOLI Z-SPORT GREYSTONE
The Z-Sport is Zoli’s dedicated sporting clays platform, and the Greystone edition adds a distinctive matte anti-corrosive finish to the receiver and barrels. This finish not only elevates the look of the gun but also enhances resistance to rust and wear.

Ergonomics
Right away, the Z-Sport Greystone feels well-balanced and natural to mount. The standard-grade Zoli walnut stock still offers attractive grain and a glossy finish. The checkering is fine and moderately aggressive—grippy without being abrasive.
The rounded fore-end provides a smooth, versatile grip with no sharp contours, and there’s a slight palm swell that gives a comfortable hold without being oversized. The adjustable comb allows fine-tuning to fit a range of shooters, though out of the box it felt just a bit short for me.
The Greystone finish pairs with subtle scroll engraving for a refined but understated appearance, while laser-cut stippling on the receiver top reduces glare.
Recoil and Reliability
Recoil is straight-back and manageable—very shootable, especially with 1 oz loads. With 1 1/8 oz shells, there’s a bit more pop, and I personally wouldn’t mind an extra few ounces in the gun’s midsection to soften that further.
Reliability in my limited testing was flawless, but long-term reliability is something only high-round-count owners can fully speak to. If you’ve put thousands of rounds through a Z-Sport, share your experience in the TFL Community so we can all learn.
Want even less recoil? We love the FalconStrike recoil reduction systems.
Breakdown/Quality of Build
The Z-Sport Greystone features Zoli’s Boss-style locking system with dual locking bolts and four receiver lugs to handle the stresses of repeated firing. Tolerances are tight—this demo gun felt brand-new and solid.
The matched-density walnut not only looks good but helps achieve excellent balance, regardless of barrel length. Finishing touches like the matte Greystone coating, quality checkering, and vented ribs contribute to a premium feel. The adjustable trigger group is removable for maintenance, and coil spring triggers offer a crisp, predictable pull (3 lbs 11 oz bottom, 4 lbs 6 oz top in my testing).
Shooting Experience
On the range, the Z-Sport Greystone mounts naturally and swings smoothly—great traits for sporting clays. Targets felt intuitive to track, especially when the fit was dialed in. It was slightly short for me, and that showed in a bit of cheek contact, but the adjustable comb helped.
The balance point is spot-on, giving the gun a lively but controlled feel. The combination of the tapered rib and dual beads made target acquisition straightforward, and the trigger break was crisp and clean.
Final Thoughts
The Zoli Z-Sport Greystone delivers premium sporting clays performance in a package that’s both functional and visually striking. I love its balance, crisp triggers, and corrosion-resistant finish. The fit out of the box may require minor tweaks for perfection, and heavier loads bring a bit more recoil than some heavier competitors—but overall, this is a refined, competition-ready shotgun that can hold its own against anything in its class.
If you’re shopping for a high-end sporting clays gun in the $10K–$12K range, the Z-Sport Greystone deserves a serious look.
