Shotgun Speed Shooting Challenges with Jerry & Lena Miculek

When it comes to notable names in the shooting industry, Jerry Miculek has to be the most renowned shooter alive. Jerry has been shooting competitively for decades but just a quick youtube search will reveal that Jerry is much more than your run-of-the-mill competitive shooter.

Jerry along with his wife, Kay, and his daughter, Lena, have become known as the first family of the shooting sports with numerous accomplishments between the three of them. On a recent road trip down South, I met up with Jerry and Lena for a little shooting fun in the Louisiana sun.

One of the things I have admired about Jerry for a long time is that he makes shooting fun. He makes videos that are fun to watch and he pulls off some pretty incredible shots, but he never seems to take himself too seriously. My observations of Jerry were all made from a distance until I actually got to spend some time with Jerry in person when my brother and I met up with him to make a pistol speed shooting video.

After spending a few days with Jerry, I had whole new respect for him. He was so down-to-earth and easy to talk with. We had so much fun making the Speed Shooting Pistols video that I certainly was looking forward to collaborating with Jerry again.

In 2021 I started reviewing shotguns on the newly formed Target Focused Life youtube channel. I was getting a lot of requests to review the Mossberg 940 Pro and I couldn't think of anyone better to tag-team the review with than Jerry himself as the 940 JM Pro is his signature shotgun and he probably has more rounds down range with it than anyone else. So I scheduled a trip down to Shoot Out Lane for a few different video collaborations with Jerry and his daughter, Lena.

We ended up filming three videos together and we had so much fun. The two videos above were released on the TFL channel, the third video was released on Jerry's Channel. Make sure you check out the video on Jerry's channel, I still can't believe we were able to shoot 100 rounds that fast.

I have been truly blessed to get to spend time on the range with Jerry and Lena and the Miculek family. To be honest though, one of my best memories didn't take place on the range, but in the country around a table full of crawfish and new friends.
